MTV suger på censur

What the crap? This is just plain moronic and stuff. MTV apparently censors the names of P2P programs on their mtvmusic.com website, namely on Weird Al Yankovic’s “Don’t Download this Song”.

I mean. Sure. Maybe. Perhaps. I might accept that they censor the names, but they add bleeps – and not just on the vocal tracks. They stop the music, bleep, then play again, which nothing but ruins the experience. If they’d just censor the vocals, continuing to play the music in the background, it wouldn’t make the song so jerky.

The ironic lyrics continue “’cause you start out stealing songs, then you’re robbing liquor stores and selling crack and running over school kids with your car“. Unfortunately I can’t embed the original since “embedding has been disabled by request”, but I can always link it.

If anyone’s ruining music, it’s MTV. Not the people downloading using Morpheus, Grokster, Limewire, and KaZaA. Especially not since barely anyone actually should use those softwares for downloading nowadays. There are better ways to finding freely listenable and downloadable music with a huge archive and occasionally even videos!

Yes, I do mean YouTube. But I still want to promote Last.fm in favor of it.
